White Space Management
Used in the context of business-related documents, the term ‘White Space Management’ indicates a certain form of content management where parts of the document’s layout otherwise left blank are used to add customer messages.
The possibility to apply White Space Management is usually part of the design objectives of a layout re-design project. Usability and clear communications are usually other aspects on the list of objectives.
The example of Pitney Bowes’ own bill demonstrates the new design concepts.
- The green area on the left explains ways to contact customer service and icons make it easier and quicker for customers to find what they are looking for.
- The area marked red is a dedicated space for important messages or TransPromo marketing.
