How does it work?
DCS is a Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) compliant, service-oriented architecture (SOA) platform designed to deliver on-demand documents through multiple channels including call centers, back and front-office applications, branch networks, the Web and email.
Input and document data is transported via XML messages using a Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) framework. Data required by and generated from the production process is passed as attachments with the SOAP request and response. Input data can be supplied in any of the formats supported by DOC1. DCS is capable of handling any of the output print streams generated by DOC1 as well as journal and archive indexes.
The document templates that have to be applied are developed with the DOC1 Designer, in the same way as when DOC1 is used for high volume batch production. So the HIP file that is used for batch can also be used for DCS.
The resulting output data stream created by DOC1, for example PDF, is sent back to the requesting web client and can be printed locally, stored or distributed.
DCS is compatible with any J2EE 1.3 compliant application server. BEA WebLogic 9.2, JBoss 4.0.5, Sun Application Server 8.1, WebSphere 5.1/6.0/6.1 (6.1.0.4 onwards)
